Specialty Pharmacy Deserves Specialty Service

August 20, 2026

A member of our own team lived this recently. A national parcel carrier delivered a medication to the wrong address. When he called to fix it, he was routed to an overseas call center, where an agent reading from a script offered two options: walk the neighborhood knocking on doors, or file a claim online.

Think about that answer for a moment. The agent didn’t know if the caller was homebound. Didn’t know if the medication was time-sensitive. Didn’t ask. Couldn’t ask — the script doesn’t have a branch for “this is somebody’s health.” And in fairness, how could it? To a network moving billions of parcels, a misdelivered box is a routing error. A statistic that stays comfortably inside an acceptable failure rate.

We’re not going to tell you we never make a mistake. Humans run our routes, and on rare occasions a package ends up on the wrong doorstep. The difference is everything that happens next.

Here’s how that same scenario plays out at HC Logik. The patient receives a delivery confirmation text — but there’s nothing at their door. They already have their driver’s name and phone number, because it was in the ETA text we sent earlier; some call the driver directly, most call their pharmacy, and the pharmacy alerts us. Either way, within minutes we’re on the phone with the driver, who goes straight back to the doorstep where the package was left, retrieves it, and delivers it to the right address. No claim number. No knocking on your neighbors’ doors. The person who made the delivery fixes the delivery — usually within the hour.

Then we do the part nobody sees: we investigate why it happened, and we share what we learn across our entire driver network, so one wrong doorstep in one town makes every delivery everywhere a little more reliable. A parcel network absorbs its errors. We metabolize ours.

Technology makes all of this possible — the live tracking, the ETA texts, the instant alerts. But technology is a tool, not a decision-maker. At every step, a person decides where a shipment goes, and when something goes wrong, a person decides what happens next. That’s the design.

And then there’s the question of money. Our price is comparable to the major carriers’ — in several markets, it’s less. But price is just the number on the invoice. The real measure is cost: how do you put a number on a patient who didn’t receive their medication as scheduled? The call the pharmacy has to field, the reorder, the patient deciding they can’t trust the delivery anymore. A delivery that fails isn’t cheap at any price. When you count what failure actually costs in healthcare, the choice of provider should be apparent.

In the end, this isn’t really a comparison between two delivery companies. It’s a comparison between two answers to the same phone call. One is a claim number. The other is a person who knows your name, knows what’s riding in that package, and is already on the way back.  The logical choice is HC Logik.
